Ducati general manager Gigi Dall’Igna has praised Marc Marquez’s humility after claiming the MotoGP title in 2025, describing him as a rider who always wants to keep learning.
Marquez became a seven-time MotoGP champion this year as he completed an epic comeback from a career-changing arm injury he suffered in Jerez in 2020.

But his success in 2025 was equally significant for Ducati, who extended its dominance in the top class with a clean sweep of the riders, teams and manufacturers’ titles.
In a blog post on Ducati’s official website, Daigne highlighted Marquez’s character after working directly with him for the first time in 2025, saying the 32-year-old approached the race with the determination of a rookie.
“545 points, 11 grands prix, eight pole positions and 14 sprint races, 10 of them one-two wins, seven of them in a row,” he wrote, highlighting Max’s incredible form this year.

“He is the first Ducati rider to win 15 consecutive sprint races and grand prix, the first rider to reach the podium in 11 consecutive races and the first to finish a season with more than 10 wins in both sprint races and grand prix.

“But just as important, if not more important, is his return, his return to the field, initially with the Satellites [Gresini]His persistence and passion reflect his ambition, which is not financial but that of a champion determined to rediscover the feeling he has lost in recent years in a true adventure: the sparkle in his eye is the hallmark of an adventure that predates sport, and he carries it with the humility of a rider who feels he always has something to learn.

“Rookie determination and veteran experience: he is a role model for everyone and the factory team is honored to have him.”
Marquez’s arrival in the Ducati factory garage also coincided with a dip in performance from two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia, who had previously been the Ducati manufacturer’s most reliable rider.
While Bagnaia showed some flashes of speed at the Japanese Grand Prix and outplayed his rivals, he has never excelled in GP25 and ends the year with five scoreless runs heading into Sunday’s race.

Dall’Igna believes Bagnaia has experienced major misfortune this season, but hopes the 28-year-old can bounce back strongly in 2026 to help Ducati stay ahead of the competition.
“It must be said that the same official team suffered misfortune for Peco, but luckily for them no stone was left unturned,” Daigna wrote.

“Especially at the end of the championship, even in non-optimal circumstances, he was not able to get as many results as he could. Of course, things have to unfold differently, but if you add bad luck to that, everything becomes more difficult, both for the team and the rider.

“In order to learn valuable lessons, I believe, these situations must be absorbed like antibodies in order to draw from them more determination to move forward and get back to your old self.
“In other words, it’s a lesson: after all, we will inevitably encounter major unknown factors to deal with in 2026, so we might as well cherish what has happened recently.”
