Brands like Alienware, Asus, Acer, HP, and Lenovo have upgraded some models with the latest chipsets and graphics cards and launched new devices. We also see Infinix entering the gaming laptop market in 2024.

Gaming laptops have also begun to slim down this year, with most laptops pursuing stylish designs. Yes, we still have RGB lighting, but what’s a gaming laptop without RGB anyway. There’s also the artificial intelligence of gaming laptops with features like Copilot.

Alien m16 R2

Alienware, a household name in gaming laptops, launched the m16 R2 in 2024 with upgraded internals and sleek looks. Compared with the R1 model, the R2 has undergone major changes in design. If you want plenty of RGB color on your gaming laptop, keep scrolling. The Alienware m16 R2 doesn’t have any fancy RGB lighting, but it does come with a lot of the features and hardware necessary to play AAA games.

The laptop features a 16-inch IPS display with 240Hz refresh rate and QHD resolution. It can be configured with up to Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, 8GB DDR6 VRAM, up to 32GB RAM and 1TB storage. Of course, this isn’t high-end for a gaming laptop, but our review found the hardware to be adequate for running a variety of games. This laptop also excels at productivity, video editing, and everyday tasks. You also get some AI features, including a dedicated key for the front passenger. The battery life of a gaming laptop is great and the build quality is pretty good. As for flaws, we didn’t like the heat around the arrow keys when gaming for long periods of time.

Infinix GT book

Infinix launches its first gaming laptop in 2024. The Infinix GT Book strives to keep it affordable and simple. While it does offer an older processor, it is priced at Rs. At 59,999, the GT Book is still a great value. For those on a tight budget who want a decent gaming laptop, the Infinix is a great option. During our review, we managed to run a lot of games on it at decent frame rates. The touchpad area does get hot during long gaming sessions, but it won’t put you off.

The Infinix GT Book features a 16-inch IPS display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of Full HD. You can configure the laptop with up to 13th generation Intel Core i9 13900H CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. However, top-end configurations will push the price up to Rs. 99,990. The laptop also has an RGB light strip on the back. Even the basic variant we reviewed performed quite well in a variety of tasks.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16

The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 is a bit of a mouthful, but it’s a powerful gaming laptop that performs very well in the gaming department. It has a bright and colorful 16-inch IPS panel that offers a 240Hz refresh rate and WQXGA resolution. The display also supports HDR, making it a great laptop for streaming content. It comes with a 14th generation Intel Core i9 14900HX CPU, which can be paired with up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. The laptop comes with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU and 8GB VRAM.

In our review, we found that this laptop performed very well in AAA games. It also has a great display, decent battery life, and good cooling to keep you away from most of the heat. This laptop is an especially good deal as you won’t find a gaming laptop with similar specs at this price. Even better, laptops can often be purchased online at a discount.

ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16

If you’re looking for the absolute best gaming laptop and money is no object, we recommend considering Asus’ gaming laptops. The ROG Strix Scar 16 is a great gaming laptop with top-notch hardware, great build quality, and the most RGB lighting of any other laptop on this list. It’s the most expensive laptop here, but it also offers the most features.

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16 2024 is powered by an Intel Core i9 14900HX processor, paired with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 with 16GB DDR6 VRAM, up to 64GB RAM, and up to 4TB storage. In our review, we were impressed by the gaming performance the laptop delivered. We’ve even called it a desktop gaming PC replacement, and it really is that good. It also has a very nice 16-inch mini LED display with 240Hz refresh rate HDR and Dolby Vision support.

ASUS TUF Gaming A14

This year, Asus also launched one of the best compact gaming laptops we’ve ever seen. The TUF Gaming A14 has a similar chassis to the 2023 model, but most of the internals are new. The laptop has a very minimalist design and does not include any RGB lighting. Even the backlit keyboard offers plain white lighting, although it’s the mini-LED type and quite bright. This compact laptop surprised us, especially since it comes with the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU and features a 14-inch IPS display with 2.5K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate.

Gaming laptops often don’t offer long battery life when disconnected from a power source, but this one does. In balanced performance mode, we got over 8 hours of use. The HX 370 CPU is paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, with 8GB VRAM, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of storage (upgradeable to 4 TB). We were able to run most AAA games on the laptop with ease. While this laptop is pricey for its size, it’s hard not to recommend it to those looking for a compact, lightweight laptop with good battery life and gaming performance.

HP Omen Beyond 14

If you like compact gaming laptops, the HP Omen Transcend 14 is another laptop we enjoyed using this year. It’s light, thin, and super portable. The laptop comes with Intel Core Ultra 7 155H CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. It has lots of ports and an RGB backlit keyboard, and it’s very well built. The star of the show is the display, which is a 14-inch OLED panel that offers 2.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, IMAX certification, and is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The HP Omen Transcend 14 performed very well in our review. We played AAA games like Spider-Man Remastered with ease. When not gaming, battery life lasts up to five hours. This laptop is ideal for those who want a compact, powerful laptop with an OLED display.
