9 key Jaguars players entering final year of contract in 2026

Several key members of the Jacksonville Jaguars are entering the final year of their current contracts in 2026.

In year one under James Gladstone, we saw a ton of personnel changes last offseason. There won’t be as many roster changes this year or next, but adjustments will continue as Gladstone shapes this Jaguars team in his vision.

Looking ahead to the upcoming offseason, several Jaguars players who played key roles in 2025 and are expected to play key roles again this year will become free agents in 2027, which could lead to some tough decisions for Gladstone.

Some good news is that the Jaguars will have more salary cap flexibility next offseason to help retain some of these players. However, based on the NFL’s situation, some of these players will not actually be re-signed in 2027 either.

By the end of the 2025 season, nine of those players are starters.

Defensive tackle should already be a priority for the Jaguars, but Armstead and Hamilton are both set to become free agents in 2027, highlighting the need to start planning ahead at this position group.

Gladstone said in an interview with the media that contract extension negotiations with Washington and Strange had not begun as of mid-January. But it might just be a matter of time, although the Jaguars won’t have anything finalized until the 2026 season.

“With that being said, we think Brenton Strange and Parker Washington are guys we’re going to work with moving forward,” Gladstone said.

Johnson may also have entered that category with his performance in the second half of last season.

Walker is a candidate for an extension this offseason, which would keep him in Jacksonville beyond the 2026 season and help the Jaguars’ salary cap situation.

The free agents of Monte and Long highlight why tight end may be an unknown need this offseason.

On the offensive line, Wyatt Milam could be Cleveland’s long-term answer at left guard, while the Jaguars could choose to pick up Anton Harrison’s 2027 fifth-year option this offseason and then potentially work out a long-term contract out of it.

I think we could also get Matisik an extension sometime in the next calendar year.
