An 8-year-old boy was airlifted to a Reno hospital after falling approximately 30 feet from a lift at Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort in Twin Bridges (El Dorado County) on Sunday, according to media reports.
South Tahoe Now quoted a resort spokesman as saying the fall occurred around 1:20 p.m. on the Grandview Express gondola near the top terminal.
According to reports, the Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Patrol responded immediately, provided first aid and transported the child to the base area. Paramedics from the Lake Valley Fire Protection District and a medical helicopter then transferred the boy to Distinguished Regional Medical Center in Reno.
The resort did not immediately respond to The Chronicle’s request for more details.
The Grandview Express elevator was suspended for about an hour after the incident, according to Sierra-at-Tahoe.
Officials have not released details of the fall, and the boy’s condition was not immediately available Sunday afternoon.
Sierra-at-Tahoe is located approximately 12 miles west of South Lake Tahoe along U.S. Highway 50. The Grandview Express chairlift serves the terrain near the summit of the resort.
The incident is still under review, the report said.
