Among the most expensive metro areas with HOAs, Port St. Lucie ranks No. 5 and the Sebastian-Vero Beach-West Vero corridor area ranks No. 9, according to real estate listing website Realtor.com.
The top 10 includes seven metro areas in Florida and one each in Hawaii, South Carolina and the Minnesota-Wisconsin region.
Realtor.com looked at a weekly snapshot of all listings for sale in the United States from 2019-25.
Rankings are based on the following criteria:

18.9%: HOA dues as a percentage of mortgage payment

$470,000: Median listing price of homes with HOA

13%: HOA dues as a percentage of mortgage payment
Seven of the top ten metropolitan areas are in Florida, including two on the Treasure Coast.
