Trade rumors have been swirling in recent days involving the San Francisco 49ers, linebacker Fred Warner and the New York Giants.

That rumor may have just begun to circulate after the Denver Broncos made a roster move on Monday.
Trade rumors involving Warner and the Niners were first reported by Giants beat writer Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com, who said San Francisco might consider trading Warner if they can get linebacker Dre Greenlaw back.
“I don’t know if San Francisco would trade Warner. I heard they might consider doing it if they could somehow get Dre Greenlaw back,” Stapleton reported.
Then, Easton Butler of Packers Report revealed that the Niners had received a call from Warner, and that the Giants were among them.

“The 49ers have been fielding calls about linebacker Fred Warner, sources say, and the Giants are one of them,” Butler reported.
Now, on Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Broncos will waive Greenlaw, giving him a chance to return to the 49ers.
The whole situation feels weird, to say the least, and we’re very skeptical.
But if Stapleton’s report is accurate, it would open the door for the Niners to reunite with Greenlaw, which in turn could make a Warner trade work.
While the Giants signed Tremaine Edmonds on Monday, they still have another opening with Micah McFadden yet to sign.

Still, it’s hard to fathom the Niners giving up the heart and soul of their defense.
Crazier things have happened, but we believe it when we see it.
