PRATTVILLE — A four-year-old boy was found walking on a cold Autauga County dirt road Saturday morning, police said.
Sheriff Mark Harrell said a passerby saw the boy walking along a road in the Marbury area on Jan. 31 wearing pajamas and socks and called authorities. Harrell said the child was believed to have been outside for about half an hour when he was found.
He said the boy was taken to a shelter and was safe.

The child’s mother, who was found around 12:30 p.m., told investigators she left the child in the care of a family member who lived nearby before going to work, Harrell said.
Human Resources is also investigating the incident and may file criminal charges in the case, Harrell said.
