3 things the Steelers can learn from the Seahawks after the Super Bowl

It might not have been the most exciting Super Bowl, but the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots on Sunday night. They used a suffocating defense, an opportunistic offense and a high-level special teams unit to pull off a commanding 29-13 victory. This game gets us thinking about the Pittsburgh Steelers and what separates them from these teams and how they take the next step under new head coach Mike Tomlin.

Here are three things the Steelers can learn from Sunday’s game.

You have to identify those first round picks

The Seahawks have built their team around the NFL Draft, looking back at the past five first-round picks, all of which have had a major impact on the game. Offensive tackle Charles Cross, cornerback Devin Witherspoon, wide receiver Jackson Smith-Ngiba, defensive tackle Byron Murphy and linebacker Gray Zabel all had solid performances, and it’s a good example of how when your draft picks are so good, you can be more free to fill holes with veterans.

Must have a playmaker at receiver

For the Patriots, their lack of playmakers in the passing game is really holding them back. New England has had plenty of No. 2 and No. 3 receivers all season long, but the lack of a top option makes things tough for Derek Meyer. Regardless of who is at quarterback in 2026, this is a lesson the Steelers must learn.

Offensive line is so important

One area the Steelers have to be excited about heading into the offseason is the offensive line. After watching the Seahawks beat the Patriots offensive line all game long, it would be nice to know how well the Steelers offensive line performed last season, especially considering their injury issues. This also means that the left guard position is a priority, with Isaac Semalo set to become a free agent.
