The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place today and seven CONMEBOL representatives got a clear idea of what awaits them next year. Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay have all found their opponents in the group stages as the path to football’s biggest stage becomes clearer.
Bolivia finished seventh in qualifying and will compete in the continental play-offs in March for a place in the championship. The draw also reveals the path that awaits Ravid Will they emerge victorious and onto the global stage.

Argentina
Defending champion Argentina secured a spot in the World Cup in first place, winning 12 of 18 games and finishing with 38 points, nine points ahead of the rest.
Back in 2022, Argentina had an unforgettable showdown with France and defeated France in a penalty shootout to lift the World Cup trophy for the third time in a final that is still regarded by many as one of the greatest finals of all time.

Colombia
Colombia must not fall into this habit after missing out on the 2022 World Cup, and they did just that by finishing third in qualifying.

Colombia is in Group K with Portugal, Uzbekistan, Jamaica, Democratic Republic of Congo or New Caledonia.

Uruguay
After a poor showing at the 2022 World Cup, Uruguay are desperate to return to the global stage and showcase their true talent. Under head coach Marcelo Bielsa, the Sky Blues are in fourth place with seven wins, seven draws and four losses.

Uruguay is in Group H with Spain, Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde.
Uruguay has played against Spain 10 times, with 5 draws and 5 losses. The two teams met twice in the World Cup, both ended in draws. The last time the two teams met was in the 2013 Confederations Cup, with Spain winning 2-1.

In 2010, Paraguay won the hearts of the nation in the World Cup quarter-finals, only to narrowly lose to eventual champion Spain after overtime. Since then, they have not qualified, but a 0-0 draw with Ecuador on September 4 ended their long wait for a return.
Paraguay is in Group D with the United States, Australia and either Turkey, Slovakia, Kosovo or Romania.
Paraguay has played against the US team 9 times, losing 5 times, 2 draws and 2 losses. Their most recent meeting was in November, with the United States winning 2-1.

They met Australia five times, with Australia winning two and drawing three. The last time they played was in 2010.
Bolivia
Bolivia has not participated in the World Cup finals since the United States in 1994. They have reached the finals three times but are yet to win a game, losing five and drawing one.
They still have a lot of work to do if they want to advance, with Suriname standing in their way. If they win the semi-finals of the continental playoffs, they will compete with Iraq for a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
