2. Bundesliga: Sharing the spoils in exciting Franconian derby

Fürth got off to a positive start under Heiko Vogel, with Fürth making two stunning second-half comebacks against Nuremberg. Goals from Felix Kraus and Aaron Keller ensured the visitors earned a point in a dramatic 2-2 draw.

The early exchanges went as expected, with fans from both sides creating a raucous atmosphere that spilled onto the pitch. In the fierce opening 15 minutes, serious challenges followed. Nuremberg suffered a major scare before the 20th minute when Fabio Gruber’s low backpass allowed Noel Futkeu to sneak in and round Jan Reichert, but Gruber recovered brilliantly to prevent the forward from shooting.

Felt continues to look for a more dangerous side. Aaron Keller’s cross just after the half-hour was diverted into the goal by Nuremberg defender Luka Lochoshvili, forcing Reichert to make a stunning reflex save to prevent an own goal and keep the score level before the break.

An exciting second half began just three minutes after the restart, with Nuremberg scoring first through Lochoshvili, who headed past Timo Schlick from Julian Justvan’s pass. Fürth struck back just five minutes later, with the lively Keller breaking down the left wing to set up Krause, who passed the ball to Reichert on his first pass.

The goals kept coming as Nuremberg regained the lead before the break. Mohamed Ali Zoma received the ball on the left, broke through and his shot was blocked by Filip Zires, leaving Schlick helpless. But Felt responded again within minutes. Futku’s excellent defensive play opened the attack, and then he teamed up with Yannick Dem to pass the ball to Keller, who broke through Reichert from the left side of the penalty area to make the score 2-2.

After a frantic stretch, the game finally settled down and chances became more sporadic. With 15 minutes remaining, Nuremberg nearly took the lead in a bizarre way as Schlick lingered on the ball too long, allowing Adriano Grimaldi to rush past his clearance and tip the ball just wide. At the other end, Reichert kept Nuremberg on the scoresheet with a superb two saves, first from Julian Green and then from Krause on the rebound.

A draw was a fair result after a wild start to the second half as Nuremberg extended their unbeaten run to four games. Fürth will be buoyed by ending a two-game losing streak, although they remain in 16th place.
