Former Scotland number eight Jonny Beatty believes Gregor Townsend’s side are “capable of achieving something extraordinary” and would not be surprised if they beat France on Saturday.
Fabien Galthie’s France travel to Murrayfield knowing they will become Six Nations champions with a game remaining if they win the extra points.

A home victory would allow Scotland to travel to Ireland on the final day with a real chance of claiming their first title in 27 years.
Townsend’s side have met France 13 times during his tenure, winning five of them, and Beattie has failed to get past Scotland, who did win their sixth game.
The 40-year-old, who has played for Montpellier, Castres and Bayonne as well as Glasgow Warriors, told the BBC’s Scottish Rugby Podcast: “It’s an interesting Scotland team because they have such high days and such low days but they are capable of achieving extraordinary things.
“I wouldn’t think they could beat a French team who know they have a game to go and can win the title this weekend. But they could also be very French about it and it would be absolutely frustrating.

“Let’s not forget that we have put them under real pressure before, both in Paris and at Murrayfield. It’s possible. I know we were completely outclassed but I still think it was enough and it doesn’t matter.”
“You look at the Scotland backline and what they are capable of. They are going to score points and we have to support them to do that. Give them the ball, don’t give it to France, dominate set pieces, try to dominate possession and try to get past them.
“We’ve been canceled but I still think it’s possible.”
