Forty-eight seconds into the fourth quarter, things couldn’t look any worse for the Scituate girls basketball team.

Saturday’s game was a tight battle between the two teams, with Connecticut leading 30-26 after three quarters. Putnam hit a free throw and a layup on the first two possessions of the fourth quarter to push the lead to seven points, and with the defense in check, it looked like they had enough to win.

Situs had other ideas. The Spartans’ comeback was slow and steady, starting with Naylor’s layup with 4:12 left. After a minute of scoreless basketball, Brooklyn Rujillo Successful layup, 50 seconds later, Alina Solis With 2:57 left in the game, the left winger hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 33.
Both defenses were locked in and good looks were hard to come by. Russillo had a chance to give the Spartans the lead with 1:20 left, but her shot missed. Naylor was in perfect position on the weak side, grabbing the rebound and making it 35-33. Scituate did what needed to be done defensively and ended the game.
Gabby Russillo Scituate scored 14 points, while sister Brooklyn nearly reached double figures with nine points. Naylor and Solis contributed the rest of the scoring with 6 points each.

🏀Women’s Basketball – Division I

Madison Kiladio The Bulldogs came off the bench and made a big difference as they struck out early and kept the momentum going in a 54-33 victory over the Falcons.

Westley’s trip to Cranston West was a business trip, and that showed during the game. The Bulldogs got big help from the usual suspects, but Ziarado – part of a talented freshman class – had the best game of her young career, coming off the bench and finishing with 12 points on the night.
The game got off to a slow start, with Westerly leading 14-7 after the first quarter and 25-13 at halftime, but an inspired play in the third quarter allowed the Bulldogs to push within 20 points.
Jeonju Ella Reyes He performed well in this game, scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Madison Pellegrino He also scored 7 points and 4 rebounds. Santana Hamelin Got 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
🏀Women’s Basketball – Division I
Kat Amado, East Providence girls basketball
East Providence 58, Toll Plaza 17
The Townsmen wasted no time in continuing their weekend as they dominated the first quarter to outscore the Titans 58-17 to end the game early.

East Providence performed well on both sides of the ball in the first quarter. The Townsmen had a poor Tollgate performance – picking up just four points – and Kate Amado and Nadia Carollo-Vargas The two teamed up to score 5 three-pointers, helping the team lead 28-4.
Carollo Vargas became Town’s top scorer with 14 points. Trinity Provencher Also reached double digits with 12 points. Amado scored 9 points; Jordyn Peckham Hit two three-pointers in the second half and scored 8 points.

Rogers 45, Cumberland 31
Not the best start for the Vikings, but Zaida Aponte They went on offense in the third quarter and defeated the Clippers 45-31.

Neither Rodgers nor Cumberland could produce much offense in the first half. The Vikings made four field goals and two free throws, while the Clippers made four field goals and one free throw to tie the score at 10-10 at halftime.
Aponte made sure the game picked up in the second half. Her performance in the third quarter awoke Rogers’ offense as she scored half of the team’s points, leading the team 32-17 into the fourth quarter and ultimately ending the game.
Aponte finished the afternoon with 16 points Tameka Robertson Scored 12 points in double figures. Abby Hall Added seven for Rodgers Tess Margolis and won by four points.
Sam Hogan Cumberland tried to turn Cumberland over and scored all 11 of its points in the second half of the loss.

Lincoln School 77, Smithfield 53
The Bobcats set the tempo with their offense in the first quarter and then let their defense set the tone in the second quarter en route to a 77-53 victory over the Sentinels.
Two of the best teams in Division II came out strong in the first quarter, Sarah Berube, Alivia Harris and Aubrey Watkins Keep the Lincoln School offense going Ava Lopez, Elena Reed and Annabelle Lally Damage was done to Smithfield.
After the first quarter, the Bobcats led 21-19, but the focus turned to the defensive end in the second quarter, and the Sentinels only scored 5 points. Rule Whiting In this quarter, the Lincoln School team scored 7 points and led 37-26 at halftime.

As the defense continued to apply pressure, Berube provided the offensive firepower, scoring 14 points in the second quarter, which was enough to tie the game before the fourth quarter began.
Berube became the game’s top scorer with 26 points. Whitening followed with 24 points, and Watkins also scored 12 points, scoring in double figures. Harris scored 8 points in the afternoon.
Lally finished as Smithfield’s top scorer with 18 points, 11 of which came in the final frame. Reed hit 3 three-pointers and scored 14 points, and Lopez scored 10 points in this loss.
