Mundle deserves our full support.
Whether it’s in the stadium or online, these idiots must feel the full force of the club and community and show they are not welcome here. If this happens inside the stadium, I hope every decent fan will know not to look away and report it.

I’ve seen some debate about whether the comments online must have come from Sunderland fans – to me, it doesn’t matter. No matter where it comes from, it is unacceptable and as fans we must take a stand and say loud and clear that we are united against racism.
Roman, we totally stand with you, these idiots do not represent us.

Frankly, this news is disgusting. I know those who do this are in the minority of fans, but the idea that anyone can call themselves a Sunderland fan and then continue to treat players like this is disgusting.

Mondel is both a great football player and a great human being — two things that have nothing to do with his race.
Our teams are made up of players from different backgrounds, races and religions, and that’s one of the beauties of sport and football: inclusivity. People come from all over to share the joyful moment. The idea that anyone – player or spectator – could come to a Sunderland game and be abused or discriminated against is horrific.
I sincerely hope that Mondel and anyone else who may have been affected by these racist comments do not lose faith in the club.
Equally, I hope the club do everything they can to stamp it out and ensure these people never see the inside of the Stadium of Light again.

Racism does not exist in life, and neither does sports.

Sunderland AFC are a club built on community values, respect and most importantly family spirit. Players from all walks of life come together to put on the jersey and represent our region with pride, passion, and most importantly, respect.
We stand with Mondel and anyone caught making racial remarks that disparage our players does not belong in the Sunderland community.
There is no room for racism. Not now and not ever.

It’s bad enough that some fans are devastated after defeat.
I was again surprised by the hordes of early departures and the number of erratic fans at our club was quite frustrating. But the news of Mondel’s racial abuse is almost unbelievable and difficult to find the right words to describe.

Every club has its share of fools, but frankly it’s disgusting to realize we’re among them.
They hide behind social media. They do not have enough respectable or honorable qualities to be a decent human being. I hope they are caught and identified and I hope Roman gets the support he deserves from the club but also that he realizes that if it’s from Sunderland fans it’s only a small part of our fanbase and the love and support of the vast majority will stand out.
Mondel is a talent with the potential to be a great player.
I hope he realizes that and that we all support him. Unfortunately, the idiot who writes something like this doesn’t have the intelligence to read the feedback from: Rock Report. More of a pity.

It is a complete tragedy that we are seeing this despicable act of abuse in 2026.

Racism of any kind does not exist and whatever we think of a player’s performance, their color or race does not matter.
Those who post such vile content should be banned for life.
Roman, every Sunderland fan is 100% behind you and with you. Please don’t let 0.0001% affect the fact that you are part of the Mackem family.

When someone is singled out for unfair criticism, it sadly can lead to ridiculous situations where uneducated and ignorant people are able to hide behind anonymous accounts and send racist slurs to black players.

While I hope none of this information comes directly from Sunderland fans, it’s not entirely relevant. The reality is that we shouldn’t be talking about events like this happening in 2026.
While initiatives like Show Racism the Red Card have worked well in schools, we need social media platforms to do more against anonymous accounts, where hate can be spread without fear of consequences.
As football fans, we need to do more to dismantle racism and take a stand.
Whether it’s an incorrect comment from the stands or something like that, we need to do better. Whoever sent the message, I hope they are identified soon and the police get involved. Stadium bans won’t affect a pathetic bastard who doesn’t go to the games but feels it’s okay to abuse them online.

As for Mondel, I am sure he will have the best support from the club and his teammates. I hope from an in-stadium perspective we see this as a wake-up call – to do more to support our players and maybe think a little more before saying something.
Mundle deserves our full and unwavering support and I hope we show that in the upcoming games.
