Villanova University confirmed Monday, February 2, that a freshman football player at the school has been arrested for sexual assault.

“On Friday, January 30, Villanova University Police arrested Villanova University student D’Hani Cobbs and charged him with sexual assault of another undergraduate student in connection with an incident in December 2025,” the university said in a statement obtained. Cobbs is a wide receiver on the football team during the 2025 fall season, the Villanova Athletics website previously reported Hotel Villanovan. However, his profile page has been removed from the website. His stats page shows he returned one punt for the team last season.
The university first became aware of the sexual assault when the Villanova University Department of Public Safety received a report about the incident on Dec. 7, 2025. The Department of Public Safety sent an email to everyone on campus that day, explaining that “the guest and the resident student were known to each other.”
The university added that attacks of any kind will not be tolerated on campus.
