Vikings seem destined to add to their secondary in the NFL Draft

The Minnesota Vikings have their sights set on the offseason. That means we’ll be getting a ton of mock drafts that will inevitably be overhauled after the first wave of free agency.

But mock drafts can give us a good idea of what teams are looking to address in the offseason. Now, it seems like every other simulation has the Vikings going on a defensive counterattack.

Justin Melo of The Draft Network is one of the latest experts to predict this pick. He allowed Minnesota to select LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane with the 18th pick.

Mansoor Delane is the top cornerback in college football this season. The Minnesota Vikings will be making some changes in the defensive backfield this offseason, with Brian Flores likely leaving his defensive coordinator position. Delaine is a physical outside cornerback with sticky man-to-man coverage.

Despite not having much star power at cornerback, the Vikings ranked second in the NFL in passing yards this season. Only Isaiah Rodgers (963) and Byron Murphy Jr. (1,045) in Minnesota have more than 200 snaps at cornerback this season.

Deline will give the Vikings a young, talented cornerback who will add flexibility to the defense. Whether Flores will be the playmaker in this game remains to be seen.
