The director of the University of Washington’s Middle East Center has been ousted for criticizing the war in Iran and calling Zionism a “cancer.”
“Ultimately, I understand Zionism as a cancer, a potentially deadly creation on our planet: multiplying uncontrollably, invading healthy tissue, spreading, destroying organs, stealing nutrients, and ultimately shutting down vital systems,” Professor Alia Fani wrote.

Victor Balta, a university spokesman and assistant vice president for communications, said in a statement to Fox News Digital: “I can confirm that Ariya Fani is no longer director of the university’s Middle East Center.
Daniel Huffman, dean of the Jackson School of International Studies, will assume administrative responsibilities for the Middle East Center this spring and summer. “
Barta added, “Fani remains an associate professor at the university. These types of decisions are made at the unit level and no one outside of the Jackson School of International Studies was involved in the decision.”
