The director of the University of Washington’s Middle East Center has been ousted for criticizing the war in Iran and calling Zionism a “cancer.”

University of Washington Daily report In April of this year, Farney was fired from his position as director of the University of Wisconsin’s Middle East Center on March 27.

in another statement“The Islamic Republic operates very similarly to the US/Israel, albeit on a much smaller scale,” Fani said. “Iran therefore poses a real threat to its population and ecology, while the US/Israel poses a global threat. To counter the latter, we need to understand how two economies – military and linguistic – operate in harmony; the latter views certain groups as less than human, while the former materially realizes this vision.”

“Our ability to control militaristic economies requires the establishment of democratic institutions, but we can get a huge head start in creating new anti-colonial language economies.”

Farney also told Fox News Digital, “Zionism is a 19th-century political ideology that sought to define European Jewry as a people and promote their settlement in Palestinian land through the displacement, dispossession, and control of Palestinians and Arabs. One does not have to be Jewish to be a Zionist, and in fact, most Zionists are not Jewish. There are many atheist, Christian, and Muslim Zionists.”

“Zionism offers a political theory of Jewish self-determination, which is a sanitized lie because it ignores how Zionism has been practiced historically.”

Fani added: “I liken Zionism to a cancer because it has been metastasizing since the beginning of Palestinian history. Israel is the only country in the region that has never remained within its internationally recognized borders and continues to invade, ethnically cleanse, occupy and bomb other lands and countries.”

Victor Balta, a university spokesman and assistant vice president for communications, said in a statement to Fox News Digital: “I can confirm that Ariya Fani is no longer director of the university’s Middle East Center.

Daniel Huffman, dean of the Jackson School of International Studies, will assume administrative responsibilities for the Middle East Center this spring and summer. “

Barta added, “Fani remains an associate professor at the university. These types of decisions are made at the unit level and no one outside of the Jackson School of International Studies was involved in the decision.”
