Ulster back-row David McCann believes the province will be “difficult to deal with” if they can achieve greater consistency in their matches.
Richie Murphy’s side have started the season strongly, winning five opening games in all competitions in 2025-26.

They were beaten 61-7 by Racing 92 in Friday night’s Challenge Cup tie, but seven of their nine tries came after half-time and they led just 14-7 going into the period.
McCann believes small changes can make a “huge difference” as the game progresses.
“I actually don’t think we were that bad. We were maybe just half a second behind,” he said of the first-half performance.
“But we changed that and showed focus on the ball early on in the breakdown and won all the scraps and you can see how that allowed us to play our game.
“When we attack like that, we’re tough to play against. I think if we can start to combine that with 80-minute performances like this, we’re going to be tough to play against.”

After a break in the November Test window, Ulster won their first two games in a run of 10 games in 10 weeks.
With Friday’s Challenge Cup trip away to Cardiff and three inter-provincial derbies in the United Rugby Championship, Richie Murphy’s side are finding their form at a crucial period of the season.
“I think there’s a lot of momentum, but [there is a] There’s widespread belief in what we’re doing,” McCann added.
“When we defend well, we get the ball back, and then when we get the ball back, I think everybody knows what our offense looks like right now.
“So the belief is huge at the moment. There’s obviously some big games coming up, so it’ll be good to see how we get on.”
