UFC veteran Alex Garcia was one of three suspects arrested in Montreal last Monday, along with 102 kilograms of cocaine and other drugs, cash, vehicles and guns, in what local authorities said was a “major” raid by the city’s anti-gang force. Montreal police announced the arrests in a news release Wednesday.
In addition to the large amount of cocaine worth more than C$2.3 million (approximately US$1.7 million), approximately 5 kilograms of heroin, 20 liters of GHB, C$306,000 in cash (approximately US$223,000), three firearms and two vehicles were seized during the operation.

Montreal authorities said:
“This criminal investigation, launched in July 2025, revealed that the Toronto area was used as a source of supply and that the drugs were then resold at higher prices in the greater Montreal area.”
Garcia, 38, competed 10 times in the UFC welterweight division from 2013-18, compiling a 5-5 record with the promotion before being released after consecutive losses to Ryan LaFlare and Court McGee. Garcia then fought two more times with Russian regional promotion ACA, losing to Ibragim Chuzhigaev in 2019 and Abdul-Rahman Dzhanaev in early 2020.
Michele Laddaga, 49, and Victor Julio Sanchez Medrano, 45, were also arrested along with Garcia in the raid. Arrest warrants remain outstanding for two other suspects.
According to Canadian news outlet CTV News, both Garcia and Medrano “have been charged with drug trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime,” while Ladaga “faces drug trafficking and possession charges.”
