According to a report in the March 12 issue of Southern Living magazine, two Kentucky cities rank among the best cities in the South.
Louisville and Lexington both made the top 20, but which Commonwealth city ranked higher? Here’s what to know.
Louisville and Lexington among best Southern cities
According to Southern Living, Lexington ranks No. 6 and Louisville No. 15 among the best cities in the South.
Lexington is known for “more than just bourbon and horses,” the publication said, although visitors should still consider visiting distilleries and visiting Keeneland. Visitors can also see colorful murals downtown and visit nearby Shaker Village.
Louisville’s Bourbon Trail, with its breweries, restaurants and art spaces, also attracts visitors. Visitors should consider visiting wineries such as Maker’s Mark, Four Roses, and Wild Turkey, and exploring areas such as NuLu, a pedestrian-friendly area near downtown with unique shopping, dining, and nightlife opportunities.
Guests can also visit Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.
