Earlier this morning, the Twins announced they had selected Ryan Kreidler, Aaron Rodon and Eric Wagman to AAA. Combined with Zebi Matthews picking up his option yesterday and the Twins letting Liam Hendricks and Andrew Chafin go, the Opening Day roster is about to be finalized.
With the latest round of cuts, Minnesota appears to have nailed down their position players.

The team will likely rotate its DH/LF options, with the trio of Altman, Clemens and Martin all seeing significant minutes when Caratini catches the ball or Lanark needs a few days off. Gray will likely only play if Lee needs a day off.
There are fewer spots for pitchers, but there’s essentially only one spot up for grabs. Mick Abel has been outstanding this spring, stealing the fifth starting job from Zebby Matthews. Matthews will undoubtedly spend a lot of time with the Twins throughout the season, but Abel will get his first chance to extend himself as a regular.

That leaves an open bullpen spot, which appears to be a competition between veterans Dan Altavilla and Matt Bowman. Cody Laweryson is also still in training camp, but the Twins won’t risk losing him if he doesn’t make the team the veteran player he is. While other teams make their final eliminations today and tomorrow, the Twins will also likely be looking for outside players on the waiver wire. Regardless, the team already has three left-handers and the final reliever will undoubtedly be a right-hander, it’s just a matter of finding the right guy.
