The Raiders’ toxicity could reinvigorate a recent Eagles rumor

Have you ever played the “Never Have I Ever” game? If not, don’t worry. The buzz wears off after a round or two, but it seems like a good chance to compete. We’ve never heard any trade rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles weren’t involved in.

Part of this is because fans and media members are obsessed with imagining disgruntled players wearing the jerseys of their favorite teams. Philadelphia is home to the NFL’s most aggressive general manager.

Most trade rumors work in a similar way. Smoke does not usually cause fires, but reports are always fairly consistent.

The Eagles were always at the table, even if they chose to bow out at the 11th hour. However, something is happening in Sin City, so it seems likely that the once-dead rumor mill will start churning again.

Cue Max Crosby’s conversation in Eagles Nation again.

We know…we know…you’re going to get tired of hearing this, but come on. Let us all take a break. I’m Max Crosby. Can you imagine how wonderful life would be if he found his way to the City of Brotherly Love?

If you’re new to this, or you’ve been living under a rock, this is what you’re missing. Those of you who are 21 years old are relatively young and have no idea how important the current Las Vegas Raiders were when they were in Oakland, Los Angeles, and then again in Oakland, California.

Philadelphia lost to the Raiders (XV) in its first Super Bowl. Then, they came close to playing on the biggest stage again (XXXVII). Since then, the Eagles have made four Super Bowl appearances and won two while the Raiders have struggled.

Max Crosby is a good soldier. He was drafted by the Raiders in 2019. It’s hard to believe that as good as he is now, he would be drafted in the fourth round.

Regardless, things have taken a turn for the worse since he and the Raiders filled out a change of address and moved to Vegas. They recently informed him that they would be shutting him down for the remainder of the season. Since Crosby is a competitor, it didn’t go well. So, he left the team facility. As you might expect, there are now rumors that he could be a trade target this offseason.

It seemed impossible that he would become an Eagle. Have you seen his price tag? Can you imagine what the Raiders would ask of any interested team in exchange for his services? It would take multiple draft picks to get him. He’s also a salary cap behemoth.

On March 5, he signed a three-year contract extension worth $106.5 million. His contract includes $91.5 million in guaranteed money and an average salary of $35.5 million per year. After signing, his number made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL at the time.

The team that acquired him got one of the top pass rushers in the NFL. That’s not controversial, but we’ve all been staring at that cap number. That makes this move nearly impossible for Philadelphia to pull off.

However, this thought led to another. The Eagles have a top general manager in Howie Roseman. If anyone can figure out the numbers and details, it’s him.

We repeat. In these situations, smoke rarely leads to fires, but then again, Max Crosby. go ahead. Try to convince us that you are not interested.
