The Georgia Bulldogs enter the College Football Playoff as the third seed. Georgia will play a first-round game that will feature six Georgia transfers.
Four Georgia transfers will take the field on Saturday, Dec. 20 at noon ET when the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes take on the No. 7 Texas A&M Aggies. Miami quarterback Carson Beck is making headlines as a Georgia transfer in the playoffs. He has the most important role of any Georgia transfer in the postseason and will make his first postseason start after missing Georgia’s Sugar Bowl last season with an elbow injury.

In addition to Baker, Texas A&M also transferred three players from Georgia. The Aggies may need kicker Jared Zirkel to perform well in the playoffs. Cornerback Julio Humphrey and linebacker Sam M’Pemba both have smaller roles at Texas A&M and are not expected to play much of a role.
Georgia’s other transfers in the postseason are two transfers. Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman Marvin Jones spent one season at Florida State University before joining the Oklahoma Sooners for the 2025 season. Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Bear Alexander spent two years at USC before transferring to Oregon State. Jones and Alexander both played important roles as rotational defensive linemen at their respective schools.

Baker and the Miami Heat entered the playoffs as the tenth seed. Miami will face Texas A&M in the first round, which has three Georgia transfers, but none of them have nearly as important a role as Baker.

Baker’s quarterback rating of 80.6, which ranked 11th nationally, had six interceptions in Miami’s two losses. He will make his first playoff appearance as a starter. He was unable to play in Georgia’s Sugar Bowl last season due to an elbow injury.
Statistics: 3,072 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions

Mpemba has played in just three games for Texas A&M this season. He has yet to play a game against a Final Four opponent, underscoring his minimal role on the team. Mpemba had a sack and a forced fumble this season against Utah State.

Statistics: Two tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
Defensive lineman Marvin Jones, Oklahoma State

Jones transferred to Florida State for the 2024 season and then transferred to Oklahoma State this year. He played in all 12 games for Oklahoma State in 2025. He is part of Oklahoma State’s regular defensive line rotation. Jones and the Sooners rank ninth nationally in total defense, averaging 273.6 yards per game. The Sooners have one of the best defenses in the country and are holding opponents to 13.9 points per game (seventh nationally).
Statistics: 19 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection
Kicker Jared Zirkel, Texas A&M
Texas A&M Aggies position kicker Jared Zirkel (99) prepares to kick the ball
Jared Zickel is in a kicking contest with a struggling Randy Bond. Zickel started kicking in Texas A&M’s loss to Texas State, but he only played in one of two games. He hasn’t started most of the season for the Aggies, but Bond is shooting just 61.1 percent this season, so Zickel could start in the playoffs.

Cornerback Julio Humphrey, Texas A&M

Former Georgia cornerback Julio Humphrey (formerly Julian Humphrey) has appeared in 10 games for the Aggies this season. His role at Texas A&M was modest, as a backup defensive back.
Statistics: Seven tackles and one pass deflection
Defensive lineman Bear Alexander, Oregon State
Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Bear Alexander celebrates fumble recovery
Alexander transferred to USC after Georgia won the 2022-2023 national championship. He controversially transferred to Oregon State in 2024 after redshirting.
Oregon State coach Dan Lanning has successfully brought out the best in Alexander. Oregon State has the 20th-best run defense in the country (107.2 yards per game), and Alexander is a big reason why.
Statistics: 45 tackles, 1/2 sacks, 2 fumble receptions, and 1 pass deflection
