Texas A&M star OF Caden Sorrell erupts with two homers in return

The Texas A&M baseball team endured a chaotic start throughout college baseball, avoiding early-season troubles and improving to 8-0 despite mounting key injuries. One of the biggest concerns is star outfielder Kaden Sorrell missing Game 3 of the Penn State series with a hand injury. However, his return against Lamar looks like a turning point.

Sorrell opened the season with nine hits, 10 RBIs and three homers, earning SEC Player of the Week honors. But after that explosive start, he went hitless in the next three games and exited the second game against Penn with a hand issue.

Baseball is built on failure, and Sorrell has long embraced the “never too high, never too low” approach to defining the sport. That mentality paid off on Tuesday night as he emerged from his slump in stunning fashion.

In five at-bats, Sorrell had three hits — none of them regular. His first hit was a solo home run in the second inning. Two innings later, he hit the Aggies’ first grand slam of the season, pushing A&M into run-regulation territory and reminding everyone why he’s considered one of the most dangerous bats in the SEC.

Sorrell’s resurgence could not come at a better time as the competition in the Arlington-Arlington Armedee Bank College Baseball Series is about to undergo a major upgrade. Getting their star outfielder back on track is just the boost the Aggies need heading into the weekend if they want to maintain their undefeated start in a crowded field.
