In sports, talent acquisition is a never-ending cycle, and not always in areas where “depth” matters. Programs need to evaluate where they can improve, even when it comes to their employees. On Tuesday, it was reported that Texas A&M is expected to expand its player personnel department.
With the news that A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein will be leaving for Kansas State after the season, there will be some changes throughout the staff. For example, current tight ends coach Christian Ellsworth will return to Kentucky State along with Klein, prompting coach Mike Elko to make an offer to Kentucky tight ends coach Derek Shea. As far as the offensive coordinator position goes, the only detail Elko revealed was that they are in good position with the candidates.

These aren’t the only personnel changes within A&M’s program. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reports via “The X” that Georgia director of player personnel Stone O’Neal is expected to join the Aggies. He spent time at Georgia State and Temple University before arriving at Georgia State. While official news has yet to be released, O’Neal liked and shared the post on his social media, leading us to believe an official announcement is imminent.
