New Delhi: India’s Nitin Menon has been included in the elite panel of match officials for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-finals, slated to be held on March 4-5.
The first semi-final will see South Africa take on New Zealand on March 4 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Defending champions India will face England in the second semi-final on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Richard Illingworth and Alex Wolfe were appointed on-field referees for South Africa’s match against New Zealand. Two years ago, Illingworth presided over South Africa’s resounding semi-final victory when they defeated Afghanistan by 56 runs and won comfortably by nine wickets. Dockers, meanwhile, also performed well in New Zealand’s victory over Afghanistan in the group stage.
In Kolkata, Nitin Menon will be the third umpire and Rod Tucker has been appointed as the fourth umpire. Javagar Srinath will be the referee for this match.
The second semi-final between India and England in Mumbai will be overseen by Chris Ghafani and Alahuddin Palak. The two teams also met at this stage in 2024, with India winning by 68 runs and Gaffani being the umpire. In this tournament, he played in India’s matches against South Africa and West Indies.
Palak officiated England’s two matches against the West Indies and Scotland, as well as India’s win over the Netherlands.
Adrian Holdstock has been appointed as the third umpire for the Mumbai semi-finals, while Paul Reiffel will serve as the fourth umpire. Andy Pycroft will referee the match.
