Sony Said to Be Planning PlayStation State of Play Broadcast for September 24

Sony may be preparing for its State of Play live broadcast in September. PlayStation parent company may showcase some of its upcoming games at the show, according to a reliable industry source. The company last held a State of Play broadcast in May, which provided updates on upcoming releases. Sony held a PlayStation technology conference earlier this month to announce the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Expected situation in September

Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb said on Wednesday’s latest episode of the Game Mess Mornings podcast that the next State of Play demo will “almost certainly” take place on September 24th. This update is in line with his previous statement, when he said that Sony was preparing a State of Play live broadcast in September.

Sony has yet to announce its broadcast plans, but the company is expected to release the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster in the coming weeks after the game’s release on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website. The company was initially rumored to be developing a Horizon Zero Dawn remake in 2022.

According to Grubb, the company may also announce a separate remaster project for one of its games during the State of Play livestream. The presentation may also feature updates on upcoming games from third-party studios.

Sony launched the PlayStation 5 Pro on September 10 and detailed the new console’s features and upgrades in a technical demonstration. PS5 Pro will be available for pre-order on September 26th and will be launched in select markets on November 7th.

Earlier this week, a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster was spotted on the ESRB website for PS5 and PC platforms. The remaster is said to feature better lighting and textures, improved animations, a range of accessibility features and other quality-of-life improvements.

Sony has been criticized recently for its strategy of releasing remasters and remakes of multiple existing games. The company has launched or announced remasters or remasters of relatively new games such as The Last of Us, Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II, and Until Dawn.
