PHILADELPHIA — It’s normal for people to have hobbies outside of work — even NBA players.
Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. is setting the internet abuzz after releasing some music under the name “T$unami,” the nickname he earned during his NBA career. When people go to his Spotify page, they’ll see some released songs like “Fast & Furious” and “Blessed.”

After Thursday’s win over the Miami Heat, Oubre explained his love for music and why he releases some of it in his spare time.
“Well, first of all, I’m not a rapper. Not at all,” Oubre deadpanned. “I make beats. It’s more about showing a creative side on the production side, but it’s fun, man. I don’t talk much, right? So, when I do something like this, it’s more about letting people get to know me and my interests and just peeling back the layers a little bit.”
Oubre is undoubtedly a person who loves art and creation. He loves the process of being able to create something and share his vision with the world. He did have a line about the late Paul Walker in the Fast and the Furious song that got his teammates talking.
“I mean, my teammates always talk about Paul Walker’s routes,” Oubre continued. Advertisement

If it wasn’t already obvious in the song, Oubre is a huge fan of the Fast and Furious movie franchise. He also explained this while discussing the song and his love for creating it, while also clarifying a line.
“I’m a huge Fast and Furious fan, really, really,” he concluded. “I loved it. I had two GTRs. I got all the fast cars, so except for a few, but keep going. But yeah, man, Paul Walker was just the GOAT in the Fast and the Furious franchise. RIP. To clarify, I said, when I was trying to get abs, I thought I was Vin Diesel.”
