Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland is not interested in Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.

Rousey (12-2) was booked in a five-round featherweight bout against Carano (7-1) at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on May 16 under Jake Paul’s MVP Promotions. The fight will be streamed on Netflix.

Rousey, a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and Hall of Famer, has not competed in MMA since losing to Amanda Nunes in a title fight in December 2016. Meanwhile, women’s MMA pioneer Carano has not competed since August 2009, when she lost to Cris Cyborg in the inaugural Strikeforce women’s featherweight title fight.

Strickland viewed the fight as a huge mismatch.

“Ronda Rousey is going to crush her,” Strickland told Newsweek Sports. “Ronda Rousey is a multi-time world champion Olympian. Gina Carano was beautiful when women’s MMA was bad. I mean, she still wasn’t great, but it was noticeably worse when Gina Carano was in the ring.

“Ronda Rousey is going to fucking crush her and we’re just going to watch two middle-aged women going through menopause fight each other… I don’t know. I have no interest in that. Who cares?”

More: Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano could have happened a few years ago. Why not?

Rousey is widely credited with putting women’s MMA on the world stage after becoming the first women’s champion in UFC history. She defended the title six times before being defeated by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015. A year later, she lost to Nunes.
