Sean Payton reacts to Drew Brees reaching Hall of Fame

Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was announced as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026 during the NFL Honors Ceremony on Thursday night.

Current Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton, who recruited Brees to New Orleans in 2006 and won a Super Bowl with the retired quarterback, shared the following message on social media after Brees was inducted into the Hall of Fame:

He came in when most people were leaving…and set the bar so high for all of us…he immediately led the way…he was our 1st ballot HOF QB!Congratulations to Drew Brees. Also, congratulations to your wives, Brittany, Belen, Bowen, Karen, and Raylan. It’s an honor to coach you.

During his time at Payton, Brees was selected to the Pro Bowl 12 times, was selected as an All-Pro five times, and led the NFL in passing yards seven times. Brees, a two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP, will now be ranked among the greatest players in Canton history.
