Sam Darnold: Home-field advantage is huge, Seattle crowd noise is unlike any other stadium

Every team wants home-field advantage in the playoffs, but Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold says it’s especially important in Seattle.

Darnold said after the Seahawks clinched the NFC’s No. 1 seed that the Seattle 12, as they are known to their fans, can influence opposing teams through crowd noise in a way that other fans can’t.

“It’s great to be able to play in front of the 12th hole,” Darnold said. “It’s unlike any other stadium I’ve ever played in, how loud it is and how difficult it is for other offenses to operate. So we’re really looking forward to playing at home in the playoffs.”

Darnold knows he won’t have to worry about silent counts in the NFC playoffs, but the quarterbacks he faces will. He expects that to be a big advantage as the Seahawks look to win two home playoff games on their way to the Super Bowl.
