Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will hold its annual showcase next week, where upcoming projects will be announced. However, ahead of the event, the studio’s next Yakuza game appears to have been leaked on its own website. Ryu Ga Gotoku was reportedly developing Yakuza Kiwami 3, according to a now-deleted listing on the RGG website. The developer has yet to confirm the game, but it now looks like an announcement may be made at next week’s RGG Summit.
Yakuza 3 leaked
Some users on X (formerly Twitter) discovered Yakuza Kiwami 3 on Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s website on Wednesday. The listing has since been removed, but is still visible in Google search results. The leak was also shared on Reddit’s Yakuza Games subreddit.
Neither Sega nor RGG Studio have announced the next Yakuza/Yakuza game. Official confirmation will likely come at next week’s RGG Summit, which will be broadcast live the day before Tokyo Game Show 2025 kicks off.
Yakuza Max and Yakuza 2 were released in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and are remakes of the first two Yakuza games. Both action-adventure games tell the same story as the original games, but feature visual enhancements, quality-of-life improvements, and new gameplay features. The remake also adds new story elements to “Yakuza 1” and “Yakuza 2”.
Yakuza Speed 3 is likely to be a remake of Yakuza 3, which was originally released on the PS3 in 2009. A remake of “Yakuza 3” was released in 2018.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio also plans to bring Yakuza Speed and Yakuza Speed 2 to the Nintendo Switch 2. At the Nintendo Partner Showcase in July, the Japanese developer announced that both remakes would launch on Switch 2 on November 13, 2025.
RGG is currently working on several projects. In addition to the next Yakuza game, the studio is also developing action-adventure game Stranger Than Heaven and a new Virtua Fighter project, both of which were revealed at The Game Awards 2024. The RGG Summit will likely bring the latest information on both projects.
The latest work of “Dragon Painting” is “Yakuza: Pirates of Hawaii like a dragon”, which is a spin-off of the “Yakuza” series launched in February this year. The last mainline game in the series, Yakuza: Infinite Fortune, launches in 2024.
The RGG Summit will be broadcast live on Sega’s YouTube and Twitch channels on September 23 at 8pm PDT / September 24 at 5am CEST (8:30am IST). Following the summit, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will also host an RGG Direct presentation, providing an in-depth look at the games announced during the main show.
