17-year-old Bayern Munich youngster Moritz Göttlicher has been on the Bayern Munich campus since the age of 7 and has progressed in every age group on the FC Bayern Munich campus except for the U-23 team. But now the Munich journey could end by his own choice, although his new home is never far away, according to Sky Sports reporter Patrick Berger:
VFL Bochum are working hard to sign Bayern talent Moritz Gottlicher. Negotiations between the clubs are ongoing but have not yet been completed. He won’t pay transfer fee in summer [contract until June 2026]. Bochum want him now and provide the team with a top-level perspective. A contract agreement has been reached until 2031.
Long, athletic and skilled, Gottlicher is one of the best talents currently on the U-19 team. He could certainly join the likes of Kenan Yildiz and Angelo Stiller in talent fans will question whether the club will fail if he fulfills his potential. Furthermore, his name directly translates to “godlike” in English. It would be a huge shame to lose him.

But Bayern already has two young midfielders in Alexander Pavlovich and Tom Bischoff in the senior team, while young midfielders such as Javier Fernandez, Noel Aseko Nkili and Felipe Chavez are ahead of him, vying for opportunities to enter the first team. Obviously, Gotlicher’s chances of breaking into Bayern’s first team are not great. The opportunity to immediately gain promotion to Bundesliga 2 Bochum and compete with the first team might be too good to pass up.
