Bayern Munich are considering a surprise move for John Stones in what could become one of the most interesting free transfers of the summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old is set to leave Manchester City after a decade of huge success, with Daily Mail Sport reporting that Bayern are “considering a shock move” for the England defender.
Stones could reunite with Kompany
A move to Bavaria would reunite Stones with his former Manchester City team-mate Vincent Kompany and allow him to play alongside England colleague Harry Kane. This personal connection is important. Kompany understands Stones’ intelligence, composure and adaptability better than most.
The Daily Mail noted that if Bayern formally expresses interest, it “will be in a strong position to beat the competition”, with Everton, Barcelona and Coventry City also being linked.

It feels strange to see him linked to Bayern Munich, partly because it makes sense. Kompany knows him. Kane knew him. Bayern needs players with cool heads and elite habits. Stones brings it all.
City fans will remember more than just the trophy. They will remember the way he stepped into midfield as if he was born there. They will remember Stones’ composure, timing, bravery on the ball and the sense that City looked more complete when Stones was fully fit.

The sadness comes from knowing the injury robbed him of a greater legacy. He was good enough to be talked about with the best defenders of his generation, but the rhythm was often interrupted.
