Since launching operations in September last year, Reliance Jio has disrupted the telecom market and started offering free calls and ultra-low-cost 4G data services to consumers across India. Not only is the company offering data at extremely affordable prices, it is also offering app subscription and 100 free SMS to users under the ongoing Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan and Jio Summer Surprise offers. Nearly 110 million people have signed up for Reliance Jio, and more are likely to switch to it.

Free voice calls and lucrative data prices will surely attract many users to Jio network. Instead of getting a new number, you can choose to use Mobile Number Portability (MNP) to move to the Reliance Jio network without changing your phone number. In July last year, DoT forced telecom operators to roll out MNP across the country, allowing users to retain their phone numbers even if they change operators or locations. Thanks to the nationwide MNP, users of Airtel, Vodafone, Idea and other telecom companies can switch to Reliance Jio and avail the free preview offer until the end of the year without changing their number.

After porting, the Jio SIM should be activated, keep in mind that you cannot go back to the previous operator or anyone else using the MNP for at least 90 days. In his AGM speech, Ambani asked all other operators not to restrict the rights of customers to migrate to Jio using MNP.
