Red Bull Racing burned down San Francisco’s Esplanade on Saturday, causing the street to be closed for a display of Formula One cars.
“I think it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be able to see it close to home,” said Annie Strickler, who traveled from Orinda. “They’re expanding and trying to broaden the audience and bring in people from the Bay Area, which is awesome because we love the sport and we love F1.”

Formula One fans from all over the Bay Area flocked to witness the moment.
“I’m a big fan of F1, so I just like any chance I get to come and see it, the cars and the people,” said Orinda resident Noah Sasson. “I think Red Bull is a really interesting team in F1 because I feel like they’re kind of like a little bit counterintuitive because some teams are really cross-generational. They’re old and Red Bull is the newer team.”

The event sparked excitement among new Formula 1 fans.

“I was a fan and went to the races, but definitely not a huge fan. So I think having the opportunity to watch something for free, especially so close to me, is a really great thing,” Anna Kucheev said.
Red Bull also launches a number of other high-end performance cars.
“I’ve owned a lot of Mustangs, so I do love muscle cars, so I’m here for that and for my pup to be exposed to some people and meet some people,” said Petaluma resident Elizabeth Oats, who attended the event with a group of friends.
“I hope everyone has a good day and keep going, F1,” said Crystal Wright.
