Dinkel led the Beavers to two NCAA tournament appearances while at the school. The most successful, and most memorable, came in 2021, when the Beavers reached the Elite Eight as a No. 12 seed.

OSU finished the regular season with a 14-12 record and then won three straight games in the Pac-12 Tournament to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Beavers went on to defeat No. 5 seed Tennessee, No. 4 seed Oklahoma State and future NBA draft pick Cade Cunningham, as well as No. 8 seed Loyola Chicago before losing to No. 2 seed Houston in the Midwest Regional final.

The next season, OSU was one of the worst teams in the country. The Beavers won 3-28.

OSU has spent the past two seasons playing in the West Coast Conference after most teams in the Pac-12 parted ways after the 2023-2024 season. The Beavers will return next season in a revamped Pac-12 format and Gonzaga will leave the WCC to join the conference as it adds Texas State and several teams from the Mountain West.
