Red Bull Arena Leipzig (Bollinger News): RB Leipzig boss Timo Werner praised his team’s defensive stability after Wednesday’s 2-0 Bundesliga win over Freiburg at the Red Bull Arena.
To Werner’s delight, Leipzig limited Freiburg’s shots to three, of which only one was on target.

“The basis of the victory was that we defended very well. Looking at the data, we barely allowed any mistakes and defended very solidly on set pieces,” Werner told Bulinenews.com and other accredited media at the post-match press conference.
The Leipzig boss was also delighted to see his side score twice from set pieces.
“Scoring from set pieces is great because it’s important to create dangerous situations even if the opponent is sitting deep,” he added.
Freiburg coach Julian Schuster was pleased with his team’s defensive performance in the first half but was disappointed with their attacking output and the way the game progressed after the break, when Leipzig scored two goals.

“We recovered the ball well and definitely had opportunities to be more dangerous, but we didn’t take advantage of them. When space was available, we didn’t take full advantage of them. We simply didn’t provide enough of an offensive threat,” Schuster said.
“On the positive side, we created few chances, especially in the first half. Of course, it’s a shame that we conceded goals through two set pieces. It doesn’t make it any easier when the opponent can field players like (Jan) Diomande and (Antonio) Nousa,” he added.
