Norwich City players have given up a day’s wages to donate around £80,000 to the Community Sports Foundation.
The Championship side’s donation has been donated to the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF) charity.

As the club’s official charity, it uses sport to support young people and runs a number of events and projects across Norfolk.
Club captain Kenny McLean said: “Hopefully this gesture and donation will show our gratitude for all they do and allow them to continue their excellent work within our community.”
A range of initiatives and events have been launched ahead of Saturday’s home game against Birmingham City to highlight the work of CSF and raise additional funds.
In addition to the players, head coach Philippe Clement and athletic director Ben Napper also donated a day’s salary.

Ian Thornton, chief executive of CSF, said: “This donation means a lot to us. When a team comes together like this it sends a powerful message – they believe in the work we are doing and want to stand with the people we support.”
“Their generosity will help us reach more people across Norfolk and provide life-changing opportunities to those who need help most.”
He said Saturday’s game would be an opportunity to celebrate the foundations and values of the football club.
He added: “All the fundraising that everyone does for us, whether it’s a challenge event or a Norwich run, will be donated to people who need support.”

“It allows us to fund events. Many events are unfunded or unaffordable because there is so much need and people enjoy our events, it allows us to maintain many of our projects and ultimately as a football club we have a responsibility to help the community.”
