Maryland women’s basketball’s challenge against ranked opponents didn’t go the way head coach Brenda Frazier had hoped. The embattled Terps have lost three straight and four of their last five games, including the last two heartbreaking games in overtime.
Maryland will take on a rival in Oregon State at home in what many consider to be a “must-win” game due to recent results. The game will air on the Big Ten Network at 5 p.m.

Oregon Ducks (16-7, 4-6 Big Ten)
After going 9-1 in non-conference play and losing only to Stanford, the Ducks took a step back in Big Ten play. head coach Kelly Graves He is in his 12th season coaching Oregon State, having enjoyed success in the Pac-12 and leading the Ducks to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 10 seed in his first season in the Big Ten.
The Ducks arrive in College Park after two consecutive wins over last-place teams in the league at Rutgers and Penn State.
Players to watch
Katie Fisso, sophomore guard, 5-foot-11, No. 2 — Fisso has made a huge leap from being a non-factor during her freshman year to being the team’s primary option on offense. An efficient downhill scorer, she averaged over 15 points per game, drawing defenses and making smart passes to her teammates. Fiso ranks second in the league with 6.9 assists per game.

Mia Jacobs, senior forward, 6-foot-2, No. 1 — Jacobs is one of the shooters Fiso likes to get involved in the offense. After three years at La Salle and Fresno State, the Australian made the jump to the Big Ten, shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 14 points per game.
Ehis Etute, sophomore forward, 6-foot-35 — Ettet did a lot of the dirty work in the low post for Oregon State, averaging 9.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Similar to Fiso, she made a huge leap this season from a minor contributor to a regular starter. Etute had one of her best games as a freshman last season when she scored 14 points against Maryland.
strength
ball movement. Under Fiso’s leadership, Oregon played a very unselfish style of basketball, averaging 18.1 assists per game. On offense, the ball will move early and often try to find shooters on the outside or cutters at the basket. With Maryland’s length and activity in the passing lanes, this will be a good chess matchup.

weakness
Executed late in the game. Oregon State lost two heartbreaking games to Michigan State and Wisconsin in double overtime. The only team to actually beat the Ducks is UCLA, and their record may not be indicative of the quality of their team. Much of this can be attributed to the relative inexperience of their best players, especially in the Big Ten.
Three things to note
1. Cancer awareness. Saturday’s game will be Maryland’s Ovarian Cancer Awareness Night. Former Terps guard Vicki Brick-Zupancic passed away in April 2025 after a long battle with the disease.
2. The Terps try to tie the game. The University of Maryland visited the Ducks in Eugene last season and achieved its first victory in history, improving its record to 1-2. The Terps will remain undefeated against the Ducks since joining the Big Ten Conference and tie the all-time series record at 2-2.

3. Wilson’s availability. Renee Wilson has been out of the lineup for the past three games after suffering a concussion against UCLA. Unfortunately for her and Maryland, the injury happened just as she started to hit her stride, and the Terps desperately need all the linebacker help they can get.
