Nintendo has confirmed that its next Nintendo Direct presentation will take place on June 18th. The Direct will focus on first-party adventure game Donkey Kong Bananza, which will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 next month. The game was announced during April’s Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, where the new hybrid console was revealed in full.

Donkey Kong Bananza Direct announced

Nintendo confirmed that the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct demo will last approximately 15 minutes. The event will be broadcast live on the company’s YouTube channel on June 18 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. (6:30 p.m. EST)

Nintendo has yet to reveal details about the direct demo, but says it will include approximately 15 minutes of information about Donkey Kong Bananza. The upcoming Switch 2 game may feature an in-depth look at gameplay during a Nintendo Direct.

“Donkey Kong Bananza” released a trailer on Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2. The 3D Donkey Kong game is an action-adventure platformer in which Donkey Kong blasts his way through the terrain, exploring the world, solving puzzles, and finding treasure. The game will be released exclusively on Switch 2 on July 17th.

The Switch 2 launches on June 5, with Mario Kart World the only major first-party launch game. Switch 2 versions of many existing third-party games and Nintendo games originally available on the Switch also launch on the same day.

While the Nintendo Switch 2 has been a success, with more than 3.5 million units sold worldwide, it will be some time before the console has a robust library of Nintendo games. More games will be coming to Switch 2 in 2025, including “Metroid 4: Beyond,” “Pokémon Legends: ZA” and “Kirby Sky Knight.”

In April this year, Nintendo said that a new “Mario” game might be coming to Switch 2 as soon as possible. “Stay tuned,” Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said in an interview at the time. “You know, we have a long catalog and a long list of (intellectual property) that I’m sure will make their way into the platform.”
