According to reports, the next game in the “Doom” series of first-person shooters will be revealed at next month’s Xbox Game Showcase. The game is thought to be called Doom: Dark Ages and may be set in a medieval-style world. The Xbox Game Showcase event is scheduled to take place on June 9, where Microsoft will showcase a series of upcoming first-party games as well as a lineup of third-party games. The next Call of Duty installment has been confirmed to feature a dedicated in-depth look immediately following the reveal.
According to Insider Gaming , Id Software will announce the next Doom game at the Xbox Games Showcase next month. The game has reportedly been in development for at least four years under the codename Year Zero. However, the report states that Doom: Dark Ages may be the final entry in the game. Doom: Dark Ages is said to take place in a medieval-style world. No further details about the game are available at this time.
The Xbox Game Showcase event is scheduled for June 9. In addition to updates for already-released games like Avowed and Indian Jones and the Great Circle, the showcase event may also reportedly showcase the next installment in the Gears of War series.
Additionally, Microsoft and Activision have confirmed that the demo directly following the Xbox Showcase will be dedicated to the next Call of Duty game, Black Ops 6. The Xbox Game Showcase will showcase the upcoming game lineup from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, as well as third-party games on Xbox.
Id Software, the maker of “Doom”, is part of Bethesda, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2021. While the last game in the series, Doom Eternal, released in 2020 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, the next Doom game may launch as an Xbox and PC exclusive.
