Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule addressed the potential transfer of quarterback Dylan Raiola from the program during an appearance on the Husker Radio Network on Wednesday.
Raiola entered the transfer portal on Monday afternoon in one of the most high-profile moves of the offseason so far. This season, he passed for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions with a completion rate of 72.4%.

During his career at Nebraska, Raiola totaled 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also set multiple school records for the Huskers in season completion percentage (72.4), completion percentage (20), freshman passing yards (2,819) and freshman completion percentage (67.1).
Offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen said he wants the program to be aggressive in the transfer portal to secure a quarterback. Rhule took a cautious approach to his response Wednesday as the program prepares for its bowl game against Utah State.
“If he needs a fresh start, I’m going to pray that he finds the right position and has that much success. That being said, there are a lot of great quarterbacks out there and a lot of guys who want to play at Nebraska.”
Over the past 48 hours, it has become clear that the project is ready to prepare for life after Raiola’s death. The next few weeks will be critical for the program as it seeks to establish an offensive identity and begin preparations for the 2026 season.
