MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Mount Vernon Fire Department was busy battling a massive structure fire Saturday afternoon.
At about 3:30 pm on February 21, white smoke came out from near the maintenance garage of the County Road Bureau, and staff were dispatched to investigate.

According to officials, when they arrived on scene, crews discovered an active commercial structure fire in a maintenance garage.

With additional help from the Livingston and Brodhead fire departments and tanker truck support from the West Rockcastle and Brindle Ridge fire departments, crews began battling the fire from the inside until a portion of the roof collapsed.

Officials said crews used about 67,000 gallons of water, which was poured into the garage to contain the fire.
