MIUI 7 Global Released: How to Download and Install It

Xiaomi announced on Tuesday that it has made the global stable version of MIUI 7 available for a range of devices. The new version of Xiaomi mobile operating system can be downloaded from Xiaomi’s official forum and launched as an OTA update.

The stable MIUI 7 version is available for Xiaomi 3, Xiaomi 4, Xiaomi Note, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Xiaomi Redmi Note and Xiaomi Pad. There is no word yet on when the Xiaomi Mi 4i will receive the update.

MIUI 7 is based on Android Lollipop and comes with features such as four built-in themes, daily lock screen with daily wallpaper changes, and a new mode that allows users to choose to lock apps they don’t want their children to have access to.

As for improvements, the company claims that MIUI 7 has a 30% improvement in response time over MIUI 6. Users should also find it’s battery life is light because of some tweaks to how the operating system handles background apps.

If you have never flashed your device (manually installed the ROM on your phone), you should wait for the OTA update to arrive on your phone. Users can check updater app Check on their MIUI device to see if the OTA update has arrived. If so, users should press “Update” and then “Restart now” once the download is complete to complete the installation.
