Microsoft has finally launched its game streaming service Xbox Cloud Gaming in India. Xbox parent company announced on Tuesday that it will offer cloud gaming support in India, following news that the service is coming to the country. Xbox Cloud Gaming has previously been available in beta in some countries/regions.
Just like elsewhere, Xbox cloud gaming in India will be available through a Game Pass subscription. The service will be bundled with the newly upgraded Game Pass Essential, Premium and Ultimate plans launching in October.
How to stream games using Xbox Cloud Gaming
With cloud gaming, users can play Xbox games without an Xbox console. They can start playing cloud games and even choose games from their own library through the Xbox app on compatible devices (PC, Mac, iOS and Android mobile devices, tablets, Samsung and LG smart TVs, and Amazon Fire TV). All they need is a compatible controller (both the Xbox Wireless Controller and Sony’s DualSense controller will work) and a high-speed internet connection of over 20 Mbps to start cloud game streaming. Some games also support touch as well as keyboard and mouse controls.
Hundreds of Xbox games on Game Pass offer cloud playability support, and last year, Microsoft expanded Xbox cloud gaming to select players’ own games. Xbox cloud gaming will also be available through the Xbox PC app on Windows-based gaming handsets, including Microsoft’s own ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, both of which were launched in India in October.
Game Pass plans in India start at Rs. The basic tier costs 499 and includes over 50 games, unlimited cloud streaming, online multiplayer and other benefits. The Premium and Ultimate plans include hundreds of games and are priced at Rs. Rs.699. 1,389 respectively. The Ultimate tier also includes day-one gameplay at launch. The PC Game Pass is priced at Rs. 939 per month.
Ahead of Microsoft’s official announcement, Reddit users on the Xbox India subreddit discovered that Microsoft will launch Xbox cloud gaming support in India on Tuesday. Some users reported being able to play select cloud games on their PC through the Xbox app.
Last month, Microsoft increased the price of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions and added additional benefits to the service. The company has also replaced the previous two Game Pass plans (Core and Standard) with new Basic and Premium plans. All Xbox Game Pass plans now support unlimited cloud streaming for a select number of games.
