Still persisting.
Last week, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White flatly dismissed the idea Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler The fight, which took place at the historic UFC White House event in June, said the fight was “a few years ago” and made it clear the promotion was still going strong. The comment shocked the MMA world and seemed to bring closure to the fight Chandler has been chasing since 2023.

After posting several tweets this week, Chandler finally reacted to the disappointing news.
“My reaction is, we’ll see. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out. Obviously, no one knows what fights are on the cards for the White House,” Chandler told Ariel Helwani today. “Is it 100 percent going to be like that? Won’t Connor and I have a falling out in the White House? I don’t know.”
“I just know I can control what I can control,” Chandler added. “Obviously, it’s not encouraging. It’s not good to hear. But I’m also hearing a lot of things that are not encouraging that turn out to be either not true or just plain wrong. So, let’s move on, man.”
Chandler has been here before. After coaching against McGregor ultimate warriorIt’s no secret that the former Bellator champion has been waiting for the Irish superstar to return for over a year. This patience was not rewarded. McGregor withdrew from his scheduled UFC 303 bout due to injury and the bout was never seen again.

Despite the uncertainty, and despite the pivot the UFC seems to be taking, Chandler still has one goal in mind: McGregor in the White House.
“I don’t have a Plan B until Plan A is 100% exhausted,” Chandler explained. “That’s where we are right now. I’m working out my blocks, my workouts, my diet and everything leading up to June. That’s the plan – fight at the White House, fight Conor at the White House.
“Until that train completely derails — and the only way it gets derailed is if he’s declared against someone else in the White House, or I’m declared against someone in the White House. So, we’ll see.”
For now, Chandler remains in limbo — training, waiting, and hoping that history will somehow repeat itself in his favor. But things may finally become clear as White will begin his official pairing on the UFC White House card after UFC 325 on February 1.
Whether this was the answer Chandler wanted… is another matter entirely.
