Atlanta-area authorities recently arrested a man in connection with the January shooting death of an Augusta man.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said Isaiah Romont Santos Thomas was taken into custody by the Atlanta MARTA Police Department on March 3 and later transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in Augusta.
Thomas faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime related to the death of Miguel Jean Carlos Rodriguez Cruz, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the charges stem from an incident that occurred Jan. 22 in the Yates Drive area of Susan Circle, where Cruz was shot.
The investigation remains ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
