Man arrested in connection to Central El Paso shooting

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A man was recently arrested in connection with a shooting in central El Paso on Sunday, February 1 that left another man injured, according to El Paso Police.

Cesar Vite Pineda faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a 58-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound Sunday in the 2500 block of Morehead, police said.

Pineda is being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility with bail set at $150,000.

Body camera footage provided by EPPD shows officers who responded to the incident and their SWAT team in the area. The video also shows police arresting Pineda.

As KTSM 9 News previously reported, the call came in shortly before 4 p.m., and EPPD’s SWAT team was in the area.

El Paso Fire Department crews were also in the area aboard the department’s Fire-STAR helicopter.

No further information has been released at this time.
