Mahindra Brings Dolby Atmos to Its Electric Origin SUVs for In-Car Entertainment Experiences

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced its partnership with Dolby Laboratories to integrate the Dolby Atmos experience into its new range of electric SUVs – Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. The move is said to be the first collaboration between a British and American technology company and an Indian automaker. The auditory experience will be integrated with the electric SUV’s in-cabin infotainment system provided by Gaana, which is also working with Indian original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to develop the new Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e.

Mahindra said the addition of Dolby Atmos brings a sound studio experience to its new cars built on a pure electric platform. It is said to provide better clarity and depth when listening to music, podcasts, movies, and more. Dolby Atmos is paired with 16 Harman Kardon speakers, which are standard on Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e vehicles.

The in-car entertainment system includes three-way speakers, with a tweeter, a mid-range speaker and a woofer next to the front seats. At the center is Harman’s patented Unity speaker design and rear surround speakers with high-fidelity midrange. Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e also feature a ceiling-mounted subwoofer and two speaker drivers for enhanced surround sound in-car audio experience with Dolby Atmos.

The vehicles are part of Mahindra Born Electric Vision, which is based on the INGLO platform, which is said to support advanced safety features specifically designed to meet international industry standards. The Indian carmaker has partnered with Volkswagen Group to source components such as batteries, electric motors, batteries and system components to further develop the platform. Although the company aims to launch five all-electric models in total, it has launched two so far.

Mahindra BE 6 is a performance-focused model with a bold design language and attractive performance figures. The Mahindra XEV 9e, meanwhile, is positioned as a premium electric car with premium materials and interior design. It comes with a variety of comfort-enhancing features.
