NEW YORK (AP) — Nathan MacKinnon scored his second goal of the game at 2:46 of overtime to help the Colorado Avalanche beat Artemi Panarin and the New York Rangers 3-2 on Saturday.
MacKinnon scored an NHL-best 24 goals over Igor Shesterkin to give Colorado its third win in four games. He also hit the ball past Shesterkin at 15:26 of the third period to give the Avalanche a 2-1 lead.

MacKinnon has 10 goals and five assists in his past nine games.
Parker Kelly also scored for Colorado and Martin Necas had three assists. The NHL-leading Avalanche are rebounding from a 6-3 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday night.
Panarin and Connor Sheary scored for New York, which won five of six games. Shesterkin made 39 saves.
The Rangers trailed 2-1, but Panarin scored his 10th goal at 19:18 and Shesterkin added another skater.
The Avalanche jumped into the lead at 7:06 of the second period when Kelly tipped defenseman Sam Malinsky’s shot past Shesterkin.
Sherry tied the game at 1 at 4:23 of the third period with his first goal as a Rangers player. Sheary beat Blackwood with a high shot after sliding down Avalanche defenseman Kyle Makar.
Mackenzie Blackwood made 24 saves for Colorado.
